It would seem, that stripping all the plants in my Hydro greenhouse, is finally paying off…… as the remaining pods are ripening up nicely. There are probably around 100 pods in a state of semi-ripeness in this greenhouse. As soon as I think there are enough to make a harvest….I pick them.
All these pods, have the typical fruity aroma you would expect from Cap.Chinense….and of course, they are all blisteringly hot ! However, the Nagabon, which is a cross between a Naga & Scotch Bonnet, is probably the one with the least heat, although it’s still crazy hot ,and in my opinion, has a great taste. The smaller pods, usually found at the bottom of the plant, are ideal to just chop in half and add heat & flavour to any dish…..They may be small, but they still carry a good punch of heat ! One thing that always amazes me….is the different shapes of mature pods, off the same plant ! I assume this would have something to do with genetics…or something, but it’s not a subject I’ve looked into…yet ! Any thoughts ? let me know 🙂
As always, these pods will be de-seeded…and then dried in the dehydrator, before being stored in an airtight container.
